28 March 2011: SFDA appoint Intertek as a provider of Conformity Assessment Services for Cosmetic and Perfume Products being exported to the Kingdom.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and Intertek have today signed an agreement confirming Intertek as a provider of Conformity Assessment Services for exports of cosmetics and perfume products to the Kingdom and authorised to issue the Certificate of Conformity. The certificate is a mandatory requirement for Customs clearance.

 

16 Jan 2011: SFDA Ban on Mouth Wash and related products containing alcohol

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) have issued circular No. 3597 Dated 12/2/1432 (16 January 2011) banning all mouth wash and related products containing alcohol used for rinsing, cleaning or sterilizing of the mouth and teeth.

The decision to ban these types of products has been taken due to the existence of permissible and available alcohol free alternatives.

26 Aug 2010: Saudi car importers shall provide Certificate of Conformity
(CoC) during shipment clearance

The Saudi Customs agency has called upon importers of new cars to provide certificate of conformity (CoC) issued by an approved body from the country of origin/export confirming their compliance to the Saudi standards from 1/1/1432H (7 December 2010) to avoid prevention of entry into Saudi Arabia.

18 Feb 2010: Energy Efficiency Labelling Requirement by Saudi Authorities

The Saudi authorities have announced through Saudi national official gazette no. 4252 on strict implementation of energy efficiency labelling requirements for Air-conditioners, Washing Machines, Refrigerators and Freezers entering into Saudi Arabia.

This will be enforced from 27 April 2010.

18 Feb 2010: Saudi Regulation on EU Markings Country of Origin

Issuance of a circular related to fixing the country of production name on imported goods bearing mark of origin (EU), and non-acceptance of country of origin marking on stickers.

13 Jan 2010: Plugs and Sockets Requirements by Saudi Authorities

The Saudi Minister's Cabinet has issued decree No. 55 dated 21/2/1430H on the strict implementation of Saudi standards SASO 2203/2003 & SASO 2204/2003 for plugs and sockets entering into Saudi Arabia.

This will be enforced from 23 February 2010
