Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The Product Conformity Programme (PCP) was implemented by MoCI of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure the compliance of imported products, with applicable Saudi Arabian technical regulations, (i.e. mandatory requirements).
At its heart, the Programme has a number of key objectives:
- Protection of public health
- Consumer safety
- National security
- Protection of religious and public morals
- Prevention of deceptive practices
The PCP provides the Saudi consumer with assurances that all products subject to Certification are free from the relevant hazards and risks. It is also a form of insurance, helping importers and exporters to secure swift and streamlined clearance of consignments of products, which are subjected to certification by Saudi Customs.
The PCP can also eliminate the losses to importers which would result from having to re-export products found not to comply with the Saudi mandatory requirements.
This PCP is implemented through the Programme’s internationally recognised conformity assessment and verification procedures conducted at the various countries of export. The Programme is designed and streamlined to be fully consistent with the rules, regulations and legitimate instruments incorporated in the relevant agreements of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
